BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music will present its annual Christmas Choral Concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington.
Featuring the Collegiate Choir, University Choir and Chamber Singers, the program will include compositions by Mouton, Sweelinck, Holst, Pärt, Sisask, Fissinger, Lawson, Gjeilo, Owolabi and Chilcott. The concert will also include guest choir, the Lincoln-Way East High School Chorale, conducted by Matthew Granger. Suggested donations are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and IWU alumni, and $2 for high school and college students.
J. Scott Ferguson, professor of music and director of choral activities, conducts the Collegiate Choir, University Choir and Chamber Singers. Ferguson has been teaching at Illinois Wesleyan for nearly 20 years. He received his bachelor’s degree in organ performance from Oberlin Conservatory, and earned a doctorate at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His choirs have appeared on tour throughout Europe and the United States.
