Chamber Music Recital to Feature Brass Quintets

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music will feature three student brass quintets in concert Nov. 3 as part of the Chamber
Music Recital series. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium and
is free and open to the public.
The first performing quintet, with members Shaun Schaefers ’16 (trumpet), Zachary
Kuenstle ’19 (trumpet), Joseph Mauck ’19 (horn), Christopher Cooper ’18 (trombone),
and Michael Olson ’17 (tuba), will perform Victor Ewald’s Quintet No. 1 in B-flat minor, op. 5 with three movements.
The second, made up of Matthew Lenehan ’19 (trumpet), Paige Seitz ’19 (trumpet), Caleb
Ekstrand ’18 (euphonium), Maria Wipfler ’19 (trombone), and Philip Bertrand ’16 (bass
trombone) will perform two pieces, Sonata No. 1 from Hora Decima by Johann Pezel and If Thou Be Near by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Closing the performance will be the third quintet, featuring Michelle Riechers ’16
(trumpet), Jeremy Gruner ’16 (trumpet), Jessica Sheetz ’19 (horn), Samantha Stevens
’16 (trombone), and Jacob Taitel ’18 (tuba). The group will perform Quintet, a three-movement piece by Malcolm Arnold.
