Alumni Recital Series to Feature Josh Biere ’07

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University Illinois Wesleyan University's School of Music will present an alumni recital featuring Josh Biere '07, tuba, March 31 at 8 p.m. at Westbrook Auditorium.

Free and open to the public, the program will include "Sonata for Tuba and Piano" by John Cheetham, "Three Furies for Solo Tuba" by James Grant, "Sang till Lotta" by Jan Sandstrom, "Box of Justice" by alumnus composer Brian Baxter '07, "Suite No. 1 for Tuba and Piano" Effie Suite by Alec Wilder, and "Concerto for Tuba" by Eric Ewazen.

Currently based in Elgin, Illinois, Biere earned a master's degree from Northwestern University after graduating from IWU. He is the principal tubist with the Madison Symphony Orchestra and holds the principal tuba chair with the Kenosha (Wisconsin) Symphony. He regularly performs with the Chicago Composers Orchestra and has performed with the St. Paul (Minnesota) Chamber Orchestra.
