Undercover 25 Live Music Competition Showcases Student Talent
Nov. 7, 2014
At the 25th biannual “Undercover” live music competition, individual students and bands from Illinois Wesleyan will perform two cover songs with music ranging from acoustic ballads to rock classics. The event will take place Friday, Nov. 14 at 9 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center.
Dan Henig, a singer-songwriter from Ann Arbor, Mich., will return for the second year in a row as host of the competition. Henig, whose songs have been compared to those of Sara Bareilles and John Mayer, released his self-titled debut album in 2011. In addition to hosting Undercover, he will also play some of his acoustic songs during the show. Henig first became known for his cover of “Get Low” by Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz, which has reached millions of views on YouTube and was featured on the websites College Humor, FunnyOrDie, Uproxx and in Mashable’s “14 Bizarrely Awesome Rap Cover Videos.” He has also performed on the website NewMediaRockstars and the radio program “The Coop Show.”
A panel of guest judges and the student audience will vote for their favorite musicians and the top three winners will receive cash prizes.
The bands and musicians that will perform in the competition are:
