Homecoming Festivities Will be "Off the Charts"

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University will celebrate Homecoming 2014 Oct. 17-19 with the theme “Off the Charts” commemorating the 150th anniversary of the School of Music.

Among several special musical events will be a Green Carpet Gala Concert Oct. 17 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. Alumni Award winners Kyle Pfortmiller ’92 and Sean Parsons ’01, along with several School of Music ensembles, will perform at the free concert.

The annual Captain Ryan A. Beaupre ’95 Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk will take place Oct. 18 at 8:15 a.m. A U.S. Marine Corps captain, Beaupre was a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter pilot and was among the first casualties of the Iraq War. A portion of the run’s proceeds benefit the Captain Ryan A. Beaupre Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Other events include the Alumni Awards Lunch Oct. 18, honoring Alumni Award winners Pfortmiller, Parsons and Kris Condon ’84, at the Shirk Center Performance Gym, and the 50-year reunion of the Class of 1964 Oct. 18 at the Bloomington Country Club. Numerous receptions sponsored by academic departments, residence halls and student and alumni organizations will take place throughout the weekend.
