BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— On Friday, Feb. 28 the School of Music’s Wind Ensemble, Illinois Wesleyan’s top wind and percussion students, will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium of the University’s Presser Hall. Steven W. Eggleston, professor of music and chair of the Woodwind, Brass and Percussion Departments at the University, will conduct the concert. The event is free and open to the public.
Eggleston founded the Wind Ensemble in 1980, which performs multiple concerts on campus during the academic school year and tours regularly. The group has also had the opportunity to work with many Pulitzer Prize and Oscar-winning composers over the past two decades.
The program will include “Fanfare Ritmico” by Jennifer Higdon, “Postcard” by Frank Ticheli, “Colonial Song” by Percy Aldridge Grainger, “Commando March” by Samuel Barber, “Symphony in B-flat” by Paul Hindemith and “Serenade” by Derek Bourgeois.
