Dr. King Fellowship Dinner

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellowship Dinner will be held at Illinois Wesleyan University at 5 p.m. on Sunday, January12 as a part of the events for the 24th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Gospel Festival. The dinner will be served in the Young Main Lounge of Memorial Center (104 University St., Bloomington).
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will be the keynote speaker at the dinner and The Jesse White Tumbling Team will perform.
Tickets are available for purchase until January 9 through the Illinois Wesleyan University Bookstore in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington). The event, which is co-sponsored by Illinois Wesleyan and the United Community Gospel Singers of Bloomington-Normal, will feature a tribute to Rev. James and Mrs. Corine Sims, founders of the dinner and the Gospel Festival for their work of keeping alive the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In addition to White, remarks will be made by Richard F. Wilson, president of Illinois Wesleyan, Jesse Smart, former Mayor of Bloomington, Deborah White, executive director of the Mid-Central Community Action Center and Willie Brown, retired State Farm executive.
The Jesse White Tumbling Team is known for its acrobatic performances. Founded in 1959 in Chicago by White, the team often performs for the National Basketball Association, the National Football League and at Major League Baseball games. The group, coached by White, also performs at business and sporting events, including colleges and universities across the country.
