Faculty, Staff Members Retire from Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.—Illinois Wesleyan faculty members who are retiring in 2013 include Shela Bondurant-Koehler, associate professor of music; Paul Bushnell, professor of history; and Julie Prandi, professor of German.
Bondurant-Koehler is retiring after 21 years of teaching at IWU. She has been the Head of Music Education since she joined the University in 1992. Originally from Paducah, Ky., she earned a bachelor’s degree from Murray State University in Kentucky, a master’s degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and a doctorate in music education from Indiana University. Bondurant joined the University in July of 1992.
History Professor Emeritus, Bushnell is retiring after 47 years at the University. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he received a bachelor’s degree from College of Wooster in Ohio, a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of divinity degree in church history from Yale University. Bushnell came to IWU in 1966 from Vanderbilt University. In 1994, he received the DuPont Award for Teaching Excellence.
Prandi joined the IWU faculty in 1984 and was promoted to professor of German in 1993. A native Californian, she earned her bachelor’s, master’s degrees and doctorate degree in German literature, from the University of California, Berkeley. She studied two years at the Universität Göttingenand one year at the Universität Tübingen.
Staff members who are retiring in 2013 include Leanne Cox, Bud Jorgenson, Benjamin Rhodes and Paul Schley.
Cox has served Illinois Wesleyan for 37 years, starting in 1976 and becoming associate registrar in 2004. Originally from Melvin, Ill., she received her degree in history from Illinois State University in 1975.
Jorgenson, director of IWU’s Physical Plant came to the University in 1983, serving the University 30 years. Originally from Champaign, Ill., Jorgenson received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering technology from Purdue University in 1980.
Rhodes graduated in 1969 with a bachelor degree in elementary education from Illinois Wesleyan and received a master’s degree in informational technology (pre-internet) from Illinois State University in 1975.The Bloomington native was appointed director of the Educational Fund of IWU in 1979 and served in many development capacities during his time at the University.
Schley came to the University from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1974. With 39 years of service at IWU Schley is retiring as associate dean of Admissions and director of Transfer and International Admissions. He received a bachelor’s degree from Carroll University in Wisconsin and a master’s degree from Illinois State University in higher education counseling. Schley is originally from Sussex, Wis.

Elsa Rodriguez, Physical Plant custodian, 14 years of service.
