Students Celebrate Homecoming

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— For Homecoming 2013, Illinois Wesleyan students will be able to participate in a variety of activities, proving that Homecoming is, as this year’s theme implies, “A Class Act.”

The Office of Student Activities will sponsor programs throughout Homecoming Week. Featured events will include a sculpture contest on Thursday, October 10 and dance on Friday, October 11, both of which will be held at the Hansen Student Center (300 E. Beecher St., Bloomington).

The schedule of Homecoming events includes:

Sunday, October 6- Tuesday, October 8:
Lobby and Banner Decorating Contest

Monday, October 7:
12:00 p.m. – Homecoming Court Voting opens

Tuesday, October 8:
3:00 p.m. – Judging for Campus Offices Decorating
8:00 p.m. – Living Unit/Registered Student Organization Lobby and Banner Judging

Wednesday, October 9:
1:00 p.m. – Homecoming Court Voting closes
5:30 p.m. – Announcement of Homecoming Court outside Hansen Student Center
5:30-7:30 p.m. – Taste of Homecoming at Hansen Student Center (winners for Lobby and Banner Decorating will be announced during the event)
5:45 p.m. – Voting opens for Homecoming King and Queen            

Thursday, October 10:
4:30-6:00 p.m. – ExtravaCANza Sculpture Contest on Hansen Student Center Lawn
5:45 p.m. – Voting closes for Homecoming King and Queen
8:30-9:30 p.m. – Lip Sync competition at Hansen Student Center
9:30 p.m. – Crowning for King and Queen in Hansen Student Center

Friday, October 11:
6:30-8:15 p.m. – 63rd annual Titan Games at Tucci Stadium’s Wilder Field (300 E. Kelsey St., Bloomington)
9:00-11:45 p.m. – Great Gatsby/Roaring Twenties Homecoming Dance in Hansen Student Center

Saturday, October 12:
8:15-9:30 a.m. – Captain Ryan Beaupre Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk at IWU Track in Tucci Stadium
11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. – Spirit Street (Titan Drive between Shirk and Tucci Stadium)
1:00-4:00 p.m. – IWU Football at Wilder Field in Tucci Stadium
5:00-7:00 p.m. – IWU Women’s Soccer at Neis Field (315 Franklin Ave., Bloomington)
7:30-9:30 p.m. – IWU Men’s Soccer at Neis Field

Homecoming Court nominations are due on Thursday, October 3 at 11:59 p.m. For the nominees, Homecoming Court acceptance forms are due Monday, October 7 at 8:00 a.m.

For students interested in participating in the Lip Sync competition, a wildcard song selection lottery will be held at Hansen Student Center at 4:31 p.m. on Friday, October 4. Music will be due at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9 at the Office of Residential Life (109 E. University Ave., Bloomington).

For the decorating contest, residence halls and campus offices are encouraged to decorate their lobbies while Registered Student Organizations, fraternities and sororities will decorate banners. Details for the contest and other student Homecoming activities are available in the Homecoming Packet:
