Exhibit Brings Domestic Violence Awareness to IWU
Oct. 16, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University will host an exhibit titled “The Silent
Witness” in the Memorial Center Dugout (104 E. University Ave., Bloomington) and various
other campus locations from October 21-23 in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness
Month. The memorial display is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs and Students
Organizing Campus Awareness (SOCA) Peer Educators.
The Silent Witness Project is a traveling memorial to victims of domestic violence. Currently, there are 15 red, life-size silhouettes in the Silent Witness Exhibit that travel in order to increase awareness about the impacts of domestic violence. Each witness carries a plaque with the story of a person who was murdered in acts of domestic violence.
