Festival of Spirituals and Songs

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— In honor of civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Illinois Wesleyan University will hold the 15th annual Festival of Spirituals and Songs on Thursday, Jan. 24 in the Evelyn Chapel (1301 Park St., Bloomington). The event, which begins at 4 p.m., is free and is open to the public.

The program, led by Professor of Music Carren Moham, features Illinois Wesleyan University students, staff and faculty performing songs that were an important part of the Civil Rights Movement.

In addition to musical performances, the Multifaith Ambassadors will read selected writings that honor the memory and legacy of Dr. King.
