College Democrats Welcome Lt. Governor to IWU

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Illinois Wesleyan College Democrats invite the campus community
to join them in welcoming Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon on Wednesday, October 30
from 4-5 p.m. in the Davidson Room of the Memorial Center (104 E. University Ave.,
Bloomington). Simon will speak about her time in office and her upcoming campaign
for Illinois Comptroller.
As Lieutenant Governor, Simon is the second highest executive officer in Illinois, and according to the State of Illinois’s website, her mission is to make government more accountable, accessible and transparent for the taxpayers of Illinois.
After her graduation from law school at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., she served as a Jackson County prosecutor for four years. She taught for 10 years at Southern Illinois University as a law professor, where she emphasized the importance of participation in the Illinois Reform Commission, which aimed to restore ethics and trust in government.
