Senior Projects Showcased at Merwin and Wakeley Galleries

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Joyce Eichhorn Ames School of Art will host the annual B.A./B.F.A.
Senior Art Exhibitions from Tuesday, April 9 to Tuesday, April 23 in the Merwin and
Wakeley Galleries, located in the Joyce Eichhorn Ames School of Art Building (6 Ames
Plaza West, Bloomington).
The show will exhibit selected pieces from graduating art majors and minors produced
during their senior year. It will showcase work from all areas of the art program
inlcuding: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, graphic design, ceramics,
sculpture and glass. The eight students participating in the exhibition are: Riley
Blindt, Courtney Coha, Leeya Jackson, Malena Szewczyk, Katelyn Ewald, Olivia Dunham,
Sam Peniak and Dustin Springer.
An opening reception will be held in the galleries on Saturday, April 20 from 1 to
3 p.m. The awards ceremony portion of the program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Awards
to be presented are The Ames Library Purchase Award, The CLA Social Sciences Art Purchase
Awards, The Women’s Studies Art Purchase Award, The Admissions Art Purchase Award
and Senior Exhibition Honors.
Following the awards ceremony at 2 p.m., those students who have participated in the senior
critique program will talk about their works on display in the galleries as part of
the University-wide John Wesley Powell Student Research Conference. Refreshments
will be served, and both these events are free and open to the public.
Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m., with additional
Tuesday hours from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
