School of Music to Present Student Recitals

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – As a part of the Student Recital Series, the Illinois Wesleyan
School of Music will present two recitals on Sunday, March 3 beginning with a performance
by mezzo soprano Holly Haines, Class of 2013 from Peoria. The recital will take place
at 1 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington).
Lucas Fletcher, Class of 2014 from Alton, Ill., will follow with an organ performance at 5 p.m. in the Evelyn Chapel (1301 Park. St., Bloomington). The recitals are free and open to the public.
Haines will perform “Alto’s Lament” by Zina Goldrich, “Mon cœur s’ouvre à ta voix” from “Samson et Dalila” by Camille Saint-Saëns and “Perduta ho la speranza,” “Quando ti rivedrò,” and “Tregua non ho” from “36 Arie di Stile Antico” by Stefano Donaudy. Haines will also perform “Lorelei” by Clara Schumann, “Op. 39” and “Waldesgespräch” from “Liederkreis,” and “What a Movie” from “Trouble in Tahiti” by Leonard Bernstein. She will conclude the performance with “Stay With Me,” “The Man I Love” and “Then All is Fine” from “Blackbeard” by Rob Gardner, as well as “We Are Women” from “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein.
Fletcher will perform “Grand Dialogue du 5e Ton” by Louis Marchand, “Sechs Chorale von verschiedener Art” (The "Schubler" Chorales) by Johann Sebastian Bach, “Sonata in C minor, Op. 65, No. 2” by Felix Mendelssohn and “Toccata Giovane” by Bruce Prince-Joseph.
