Music and Poetry

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— On Thursday, Jan. 17 the Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present the Cook Faculty Recital, featuring music and poetry, at 8 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium, Presser Hall (1210 Park St., Bloomington).
The event is free and open to the public.
The recital will feature violinist Michael Isaac Strauss from the Oberlin Conservatory, pianist R. Kent Cook, professor of piano at IWU, oboist Roger Roe of Indiana University and poet Michael Theune, associate professor of English at IWU.
The pieces performed will include, “Deux Rhapsodies” by Charles Martin Loeffler, “Lachrymae” by Benjamin Britten, “The Nymph’s Complaint for the Death of her Fawn” by Felix Harold White, and “The Sonata for Viola and Piano” by Rebecca Clarke. Theune will recite poetry by Andrew Marvel and Maurice Rollinat.
