BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University's School of Theatre Arts' play A Shayna Maidel, by Barbara Lebow, will open at the McPherson Theatre (2 Ames Plaza E. Bloomington) on Oct. 2 at 8:00 p.m. The show will run from Tuesday Oct. 2 to Saturday Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday Oct. 7 at 2:00 p.m.
Individual tickets will cost $10 through Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday and $12 for shows on Friday and Saturday. Senior citizens receive a $1 discount off the general admission price and students may purchase tickets for $2 with a valid Illinois Wesleyan ID.
The play was written in 1985 but is set in 1946, it follows the story of two sisters, separated at an early age, with extremely different backgrounds and experiences, who are reunited after more than a decade apart.
The production is directed by Professor of Theatre Arts Nancy B. Loitz, with set design by Director of the School of Theatre Arts and Professor of Theatre Arts, Curtis C. Trout, costume design by Zachary Wagner, lighting design by Stephen Sakowski, sound design by Toby Algya and Stage Management by Morgan Latiolais
Cast Members include Annie Simpson (Rose Weiss, Daughter), Ian Scarlato (Mordechai Weiss), Amy Stockhaus (Lusia Weiss Pechenik), Sarah Menke (Hana), Allyce Torres (Mama), Allyce Torres (Midwife), Sarah Menke (Mother), Ben Mulgrew (Man).
