Wind Ensemble Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— Illinois Wesleyan University's Wind Ensemble will perform a concert on Friday Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts (600 N. East St., Bloomington).

The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will be conducted by Steven W. Eggleston director and conductor for the Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra and the IWU Wind Ensemble, who is currently professor of music and chair of the Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion Department at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Eggleston founded the Wind Ensemble during his first year at IWU in 1979 and has conducted it since its inception. Born in Royal Oak, Mich., Eggleston received his bachelor of music education degree from Butler University and his master of music degree in conducting from the University of Michigan.

The concert will feature pieces such as Gavorkna Fanfare by Jack Stamp, Bagatelles for Band by Vincent Persichetti, La Fiesta Mexicana by H. Owen Reed, Variations on America by Charles Ives, Symphonic Dance No. 3 by Clifton Williams and Amazing Grace.
