R. Kent Cook to Perform Faculty Recital

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Tuesday, March 27, the Illinois Wesleyan School of Music will present the faculty recital of R. Kent Cook, associate professor of piano and co-chair of the keyboard department. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 8 p.m. in Evelyn Chapel (1301 N. Park St., Bloomington).
Performance pieces will include works by Wolfgang A. Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Frank
Martin and Cesar Franck.
Cook, who joined the Illinois Wesleyan music faculty in 1999, has been playing the
piano since the age of six. After receiving a bachelor's degree in piano performance
from Baylor University in Texas, he pursued both his masters and doctorate degrees
in piano performance at Indiana University.
Prior to teaching at Illinois Wesleyan, Cook served on the music faculties at DePauw University, the Indiana University Piano Academy and the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. In 2009, he joined the faculty of the International Chamber Music Festival based in Kyustendil, Bulgaria.
An active soloist and chamber musician, Cook has appeared at many venues throughout the United States and abroad. While in Europe he performed in Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, England, France, Germany and Italy.
