BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the Illinois Wesleyan School of Art will host the 25th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. The exhibit will run until Thursday, Feb. 23.
A reception will be held in the Merwin and Wakeley Galleries of the Ames School of Art (6 Ames Plaza West, Bloomington) on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m.
All events are free and open to the public.
The exhibit will feature the work of Illinois Wesleyan art students, both majors and minors. Various mediums of art will be represented, including: painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, photography, ceramics, sculpture and glass.
A number of awards will be given this year; The Hart Career Center Purchase Award will be given to a student whose art will be permanently displayed in the Hart Career Center. The Mayo Alumni Purchase Award is sponsored by Michael Mayo ’02, John Dyke ’02 and Nick Brazis ’02. The National Hall Residence Honorary Purchase Award will be given to a student whose artwork will serve as an award for residence hall of the year. The President’s Award will be chosen by Illinois Wesleyan’s president Richard F. Wilson, and the Director’s Award will be selected by Miles Bair, director of the School of Art. New this year is the Memorial Center Purchase Prize.
Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m., Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
