BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present a saxophone quartet and quintet recital on Sunday, April 17 at 5 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The recital is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature soprano and alto saxophonist Brad Campbell, a senior orchestral instruments major, Jeff Kutschke, a junior music and sociology major, on alto saxophone, Ini Essien, a sophomore accounting major, on tenor saxophone and baritone saxophonist Tim Cobert, a first year music and business administration major. Adjunct instructor, Keith Zimmerman, will join the performers on soprano saxophone.
The recital will begin with the quartets rendition of a George Frederick Handel piece, The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. The saxophone quartet and quintet will also perform pieces by Pierre-Max Dubois, Samuel Barber, Jack Marshall and Percy Grainger.
The saxophone quintet will close the recital with Quintent, op. 111, Intermezzo composed by Johannes Brahms.
