BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present a series of senior student recitals Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The recitals are free and open to the public.
Violinist Erin Donegan will perform Saturday at 1 p.m. The program will include Sonata No. 1 in G minor, BWV 1001 by J.S. Bach, Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Philip Glass, Caprice No. 21, Op. 1 by Nicolo Paganini, Sonata No. 3, “Ballade,” Op. 27 by Eugene Ysaye and Sonata for Violin and Piano, M. 8 by Cesar Franck.
Also on Saturday, at 3 p.m., tenor Matt Neylon will perform a series of works by contemporary American composers. The program will include Spring by Ned Rorem, I'm Not A Boy She Says by Andre Previn, Melodies Passageres by Samuel Barber, Canti Della Lontananza and This is My Box by Gian Carlo Menotti, What an Odd Little Suitcase by Dominick Argento, My House by Leonard Bernstein, Lonely House by Kurt Weill, Blue Mountain Ballads by Paul Bowles, Come to Me, Bend to Me by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe and Love to Me by Adam Guettel.
On Sunday, Kyle Anderson will perform his trumpet recital at 1 p.m. The program will include Sonata for Trumpet and Piano by Kent Kennan, Two Portraits for Flugelhorn/Trumpet and Piano by Joseph Turrin, Intrada by Otto Ketting, Sonata for Trumpet and Piano by Eric Ewazen, Abblason Fanfare by Gottfried Reiche, A Suite of Trumpet Voluntaries by Maurice Greene and William Boyce and Concerto for Trumpet by Harry James.
Also on Sunday, Ben Junya will perform his percussion recital. The program will include Bolt! by Kirk J. Gay, Etude for Marimba #1 by Paul Smadbeck, Canned Heat by Eckhard Kopetzki and Marimba Spiritual by Minoru Miki.
