School of Music to Present Guest Recital

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Thursday, Oct. 6, the Illinois Wesleyan School of Music will present a guest recital, featuring pianist Kate Boyd. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 8 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington).
The program will include works by Franz Schubert, George Gershwin, Elaine Agnew and Frederic Chopin.
Holding degrees from Stony Brook University and Oberlin Conservatory, as well as a performance diploma from the Hanover Academy of Music in Germany, Boyd has performed as a soloist for many concert series throughout the United States and abroad. Her performances have been featured on CBC and NPR radio. Gramophone Magazine has described her as a pianist with a “strong lyrical bent and feeling for nuance.” Boyd has given masterclasses in the Midwest and New York area, as well as performing as a concert artist and teaching in Europe for seven years. She currently serves as Associate Professor of Piano and Coordinator of Piano Studies at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
