BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Sunday, Oct. 23, the Illinois Wesleyan School of Music will present this year’s Fall Choral Concert. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3 p.m. in Second Presbyterian Church (313 North East St., Bloomington).
The concert will feature performances by Illinois Wesleyan's Collegiate Choir, directed by J. Scott Ferguson, professor of music and director of choral activities, and the University Choir, directed by Brian Russell, assistant professor of music.
The concert will begin with the University Choir performing Josef Rheinberger’s Mass in f minor, op. 159, featuring baritones Andrew Havel (class of 2015, music education major), Christopher Sharkey (class of 2015, music education major) and Aaron Woodstein (class of 2015, mathematics major). They will conclude their portion of the program with Julius Spengel’s The 39th Psalm, op. 7. Susan Klotzbach, University organist, will accompany the group on organ.
The Collegiate Choir will continue with Jagdlied by Felix Mendellssohn; Wie liegt die Stadt so wust by Rudolf Mauersberger; Roztopas by Ilja Zeljenka; Lux aurumque by Eric Whitacre, featuring soprano Nicole Schneider (class of 2013, voice major); Careless Carols by Andrew Rindfleisch and Way over in Beulah lan’ arranged by Stacey Gibbs.
