BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present a faculty-alumni recital on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The concert is free and open to the public.
The recital will feature Joy Doran, adjunct instructor and accompanist on piano, and alumnus Andrew Hesse, class of 2006, and Harmonia School of Music faculty member on cello.
The program will include Suite No. 6 for Unaccompanied Cello in D Major by Johann Sebastian Bach, Sonata in A Major for Cello and Piano by Luigi Boccherini, Sonata in C Major for Cello and Piano by Sergei Prokofiev and Dance of the Elves by David Popper.
Doran has performed in past faculty-alumni recitals, but this performance is unique because Andrew is her son-in-law. “I feel he is a perfect example of someone who has capitalized on the educational opportunities at IWU. His success reflects well not only on his talent, dedication, and hard work, but also on the entire Wesleyan community,” said Doran.
