AFA Foundation Makes Alumna First Chief Administrative Officer

June 2, 2011

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University and Sigma Kappa alumna Jenny Maeda has been named the first Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) Foundation.

Maeda, who graduated in 2001 with a bachelor of arts degree in math, was an active member of Sigma Kappa during her time at IWU.  After graduation, she worked at the sorority’s National Headquarters in the operations and finance departments and went on to join Pursuant Charitable Partners as Account Manager and Program Director.  In selecting her to fill the CAO position, members of the AFA Foundation were impressed with Maeda’s strong financial and administrative background as well as her passion for Greek life.

Sigma Kappa was founded in 1874 at Maine’s Colby College, the first in New England to admit women on equal footing with male students.  The social sorority was implemented on IWU’s campus in 1906 and remains committed to promoting “life-long friendship, intellectual and spiritual fulfillment and service for the greater good” among college women, according to its mission statement.

The AFA Foundation, incorporated in 1992, works to support educational and instructional aspects of Greek organizations and to provide funding for college fraternities and sororities in the form of scholarships and fellowships.  Maeda’s position as CAO makes her the Foundation’s first-ever staff member.
