Campus Community Gathers Help for Haiti

Feb. 3, 2010

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Activities on Illinois Wesleyan's campus are raising funds for earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

Kappa Kappa Gamma and Theta Chi raised $2,177 on Feb. 2 during "Calling Home for Haiti," a telethon for individuals to come together and call family and friends, asking for donations for relief for Haiti. The groups continue to accept donations (see button at right).

Previous events have included a battle of the bands benefit concert for Haiti on Jan. 23, hosted by the International Studies Steering Committee and various student organizations. The event raised $2,260, and with matching donations, $4,520 was sent to Partners in Health.

Donations supporting aid for Haiti also were accepted during the Study Abroad Fair on Jan. 19. The International Office invited students to learn about Illinois Wesleyan's study abroad programs at the fair, and to bring "Change for Haiti."
