BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University's Wind Ensemble will present a concert on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. in the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts (600 N. East St., Bloomington). The performance is free and open to the public.
Conducted by Illinois Wesleyan Professor of Music Steven Eggleston, the ensemble will perform Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovic, English Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Vientos y Tangos by Michael Gandolfi, Be Thou My Vision by David Gillingham and Pacific Celebration Suite by Roger Nixon.
The Wind Ensemble, created by Eggleston in 1979, consists of Illinois Wesleyan wind and percussion students of all majors. Since its inception, the group's reputation has flourished, enhanced by a number of performance opportunities and prestigious guests, including Oscar award-winning composer John Corigliano and Grammy award-winning composer Vince Mendoza.
