BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Saturday, Oct. 30, the School of Music will present the faculty recital of Vadim Mazo and Eva Ferguson. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 5 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 Park St., Bloomington).
Mazo will play the violin and Ferguson will join him on the piano. The program will include Violin Sonata No. 5, Spring by Beethoven, Violin Sonata No. 1 by Debussy and Sonate a Eugene Ysaye by Franck.
Mazo is an associate professor of violin and viola at Illinois Wesleyan. He received a bachelor of music degree from Vitebsk Music College in Belarus and a master of music degree Belorussian State Conservatory in Minsk. Mazo is also the founder of Ameropa Musical Arts Festival in Prague, an organization dedicated to the collaboration of American and European chamber musicians and ensembles.
Ferguson is a visiting assistant professor of music and coordinator of the accompaniment department at Illinois Wesleyan. She received a master of fine arts degree in piano performance from the Academy of Music in Bratislava, Slovakia. Ferguson has entered several international competitions and has frequently won for best accompanist.
