BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, was recently selected as the co-recipient of the Frida Kahlo award for having the best Sigma Delta Pi Web site in the country.
Under the direction of their adviser, Christina Isabelli, associate professor of Hispanic studies, the IWU chapter was selected because of its “Web site’s content, navigability, appearance, innovation, and current maintenance,” according to a representative of the national chapter of Sigma Delta Pi.
Sigma Delta Pi is an organization for students who rank in the upper 35 percent of their class, have completed three semesters of college work, and have a minimal GPA of 3.0 in all Spanish courses taken. In addition, a student must have completed three years of college-level Spanish, including three semester hours of a course in Hispanic literature or Hispanic culture and civilization in order to be inducted into the society.
