Leighton Named Chair of ISBA Business Advice and Financial Planning Section Council

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –Timothy Leighton, adjunct professor at Illinois Wesleyan University
and managing director of the Leighton Legal Group (LLC) in Bloomington has been named
chair of the Illinois State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Business Advice and Financial Planning Section Council.
The Business Advice and Financial Planning Section assists members in developing their
skills and resources for counseling their business owner’s clients, provides a forum
for exchange of opinions and ideas among lawyers, studies the emerging role of lawyers
in giving financial advice and formulates and evaluates legislative suggestions. The
council is composed of 14 business lawyers from around the state.
In addition to his new duties as council chair, Leighton is president of the Bloomington-Normal
Prairie Thunder Hockey Team, serves on the board of Easter Seals, Illinois Wesleyan
University Associates, McLean County’s “Recovery Starts Today” Drug Court, OSF St.
Joseph Hospital Foundation Council and Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. He is
also general counsel for Community Players Theatre and an adjunct professor at Illinois
