Chicago Composers Orchestra Presents Premiere Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University alum Brian Baxter, co-chair of the Chicago Composers Orchestra (CCO), will premiere his work at the CCO debut concert

Thursday, Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. at Merit School of Music’s Gottlieb Hall.

CCO is a newly-formed 40-member group featuring classical musicians from Chicago. The orchestra, under the direction of Matt Kasper, is dedicated to the performance and advocacy of orchestra works by living composers. 

The concert will feature the works of four Chicagoland composers under the age of 35 including 2007 graduate Baxter, Garrett Byrnes, Eric Malmquist and Randall West, co-chair of CCO, as well as a piece by American composer Charles Ives.
