Students Trick-or-Treat for Change
November 4, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Illinois Wesleyan chapter of Habitat for Humanity, in conjunction with the Illinois State University chapter, raised $16,143.78 for
the 6th annual Trick or Treat for Change event. While it would normally take about
an hour to count all the change the morning after the event, this year it took two
and a half hours to count five 5-gallon buckets of change. The group received an additional
$1,000 donation, making it their most successful fundraiser ever.
The IWU/ISU Habitat for Humanity is deeply grateful to the 500 IWU and ISU students
who went door-to-door last Saturday evening (Oct. 31), the many volunteers who helped
make the event run smoothly and the Bloomington-Normal community who gave so generously.
The organization is also appreciative of corporate sponsors State Farm Bank and State
Farm Insurance, who provided cloth bags for the students to collect donations.
The final results brought the group’s fundraising total to $30,000 of the $80,000
goal set for the academic school year.
