Students Compete to Be Best Cover Band on Campus

April 7, 2009

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Fourteen Illinois Wesleyan University student bands will compete in the Office of Student Activities’ seventh-annual Undercover contest on April 16.  The contest, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 E. Beecher St., Bloomington).

Undercover is a live music competition in which student bands play two rounds of cover songs.  The winner is determined by audience response and scores from guest judges Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Kathy Cavins, Associate Dean of Students Darcy Greder and Director of Academic Advising Center Dan Turner, who will be evaluating performers on musical ability, stage presence and other criteria.  The band with the highest combined score from both rounds will be named the winner.

Performances will be limited to six minutes each and may feature acoustic ballads, country songs, Motown tunes, rock anthems and more.
