BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –
is bringing its collection of found photos, love notes, grocery lists and more to
Illinois Wesleyan University on Thursday, May 21 at 1 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center
(300 Beecher St., Bloomington). The event, which is free and open to the public, is
part of the Denim and Diamonds Tour led by FOUND Magazine creator, editor and self-titled
“point guard” Davy Rothbart.
Created in 2001, FOUND Magazine collects any found item “that gives a glimpse into someone else's life” from contributors
around the world. The tour, which celebrates the release of FOUND’s latest book, Requiem for a Paper Bag: Celebrities and Civilians Tell Stories of the Best Lost,
Tossed and Found Items from Around the World, will feature Davy Rothbart performing selected found notes and letters.
Rothbart's brother, Peter, will provide musical performances based on the found items—“think
Flight of the Conchords,” said Davy. Audience members are invited to bring their own
found items to share.
