School of Music to Present La Boheme

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music will present the opera La Boheme at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. Performances will take place in Westbrook Auditorium, Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The event is free and open to the public.
La Boheme was composed by Giacomo Puccini and premiered in Turin, Italy in 1896. The four-act opera is based on Henri Murger’s novel Scenes de la vie de Boheme. The plot revolves around a group of artists in Paris circa 1830 and focuses on the tragic tale of love between Rodolfo, a poet, and Mimi, a poor seamstress. The students will perform an English adaptation of the opera.
