BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s Symphonic Winds and Wind Ensemble will perform a concert on Thursday, April 9 at 8 p.m. Free and open to the public, the concert will take place at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (600 N. East St., Bloomington).
The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Steven Eggleston, professor of music and trumpet, will play Folk Dances by Dmitri Shostakovich, Four Scottish Dances by Malcolm Arnold, George Washington Bridge by William Schuman, Lads of Wamphray by Percy Grainger, Profanation by Leonard Bernstein, Trauersinfone by Richard Wagner and Variations on America by Charles Ives.
Jason Landes, director of bands at University High School in Normal, Ill., will conduct the Symphonic Winds as they perform Folk Song Suite for Military Band by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Watchman, Tell Us of the Night by Mark Camphouse, On an American Spiritual by David R. Holsinger and The Ascension from the “Divine Comedy” by Robert W. Smith.
