An Evening of Chamber Music

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present an Evening of Chamber Music Thursday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. in Evelyn Chapel. The concert will feature two instrumental ensembles performing contrasting styles of string quartet composition as well as music sung by the IWU Chamber Singers.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The first ensemble will play works by the early Romantic composer Franz Schubert, while the second ensemble will perform compositions by the contemporary American composer Patrick Horn. The Chamber Singers will also span the decades, singing works from the Renaissance to the contemporary era.
The repertoire will also include songs by Antonin Dvorak, Claudio Monteverdi, Robert Pearsall, Gustav Holst, Claude Debussy, Jean Belmont, Christophe Marlowe and Georgy Sviridov.
The program will end with a comical three-movement piece by American composer Paul Carey entitled, Play With Your Food.
