May Term Concert Band to Give Second Annual Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The May Term Concert Band, organized and conducted by Illinois Wesleyan University alumnus Preston Prior of Benton, Ill., will give a concert on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Free and open to the public, the concert will take place on the steps of Sheean Library on the Robert S. Eckley Quadrangle. Attendees are asked to bring a blanket or chair for seating. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be performed in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St.).

Prior, who graduated earlier this month with a degree in music education, first organized the May Term Concert Band last year.  The band is comprised of 60 members who are music majors, minors and non-majors.

The ensemble will perform “Chorale and Shaker Dance” by John Zdechlik, “America the Beautiful” arranged by Carmen Dragon, “Irish Tune from County Derry” by Percy Grainger, “Sea Songs” by Vaughan Williams, “American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli and “National Emblem” by E. E. Bagley.
