Panel Invites Questions About Islam

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Muslim Student Association at Illinois Wesleyan University will host the event “Question-Time Islam” on Thursday, May 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. The question and answer event, which will take place in the Young Main Lounge of the Memorial Center (104 E. University St., Bloomington), is free and open to the public. Dinner will be served.

The panelists for the event will be Abdel Karim Daiya and Sister Brenda, both of the Islamic Center of Bloomington-Normal (ICBN).  Daiya serves as the ICBN imam, leading prayers and sermons.  Sister Brenda is a founding member of ICBN who converted to Islam more than 20 years ago and has also been an active social worker.

Mujtaba Isani, a junior economics major from Pakistan and president of the Muslim Student Association, will serve as both a panelist and the moderator of the question and answer session. Isani has studied a variety of Islamic schools of thought, principally the Deobandi-Hanifi, Salafi and Sufi schools.
