BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University will present its weekly chapel hour on Wednesday, March 11 at 11 a.m. in Evelyn Chapel (1301 N. Park St., Bloomington).

The service is open to the public.

Hillel, the Jewish student religious organization, will present this week’s service in celebration of Purim.

Purim, a Jewish holiday, commemorates the day in Jewish history when Jews living in Persia escaped extermination by the ancient Persian Empire. The holiday is characterized by readings from the Bible’s Book of Esther, giving charity to the poor, a special meal and wearing masks and costumes.
