BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University will present its weekly Chapel Hour on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 11:00 a.m. in the Evelyn Chapel (1301 N. Park St., Bloomington).
The service is open to the public and is a part of this month’s Diversity Forum.
Each month for the Diversity Forum, a new guest will speak at chapel hour, lecture in a class, and hold an open discussion regarding their experiences with diversity.
The Rev. Hailani Chan-Williams, currently the Community Director of South Florida Ministries, has a wide-ranging perspective regarding faith and diversity. Chan-Williams once campaigned for community action and social change as a member of the Nation of Islam before becoming ordained in the United Methodist Church and serving as the director of community relations at Boston Univerisity’s Marsh Chapel.
“Diversity Forum is a program intended to feature well-educated ministers from different countries and backgrounds who have chosen to serve small communities,” said University Chaplain Hope Luckie.
Luckie hopes the Diversity Forum program will foster discussion and thought about how people’s different backgrounds can lead them to similar paths despite a multitude of options.
