IWU Student Receives Residential Life Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan junior Zac Birch has recently been named one of 40 outstanding undergraduate students by the Association of College and University Housing Officers- International (ACUHO-I).

In his application to the ACUHO-I STARS College program, Birch explained what he does for residential life at Illinois Wesleyan and why he is considering a career in student affairs, in particular in residence life.

ACUHO-I is a professional organization for housing professionals. The organization offers services, programs, and research on students and student development. There are over 6,400 members from more than 900 colleges and universities in 22 different countries.

In June Birch will attend a conference in Orlando, Fla. As a pre-conference workshop he will also attend the STARS College, an educational program for undergraduate students who are interested in a career in housing and residential life.

“I will be meeting with professionals as well as students who are like myself, considering going into college student affairs,” said Birch. “I am looking forward to going to the conference; it will help my figure out what I want to do in student affairs.”
