BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan will host the 71st annual Illinois Latin Tournament on Saturday, April 26. 200 Illinois high school students will test their Latin knowledge in an exam to be proctored by members of Illinois Wesleyan’s Classics Club and Eta Sigma Phi, the classics honor society.
The tournament is held under the auspices of the Illinois Classical Conference (ICC) and under the supervision of the Illinois High School Association. The high school students, from grades nine through 12, will compete for prizes offered at various skill levels.
Illinois Wesleyan offers both Latin and ancient Greek instruction as part of the Greek and Roman Studies Program. The Illinois Wesleyan Office of Admissions will offer a welcome to the students and teachers and be on hand for campus tours.
