Bands to Perform Free Concert

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds will give a concert on Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church (313 N. East St., Bloomington). 

The event is free and open to the public. 

Conducted by Professor of Music Steven Eggleston, the Wind Ensemble will perform Giovanni Gabrieli’s Canzon Septimi Toni No. 2, Walter Piston’s Tunbridge Fair, William Bolcom’s Song, Joaquin Rodrigo’s En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor, and Rafael Mendez’ La Virgen de la Macarena.

Assistant Professor of Music Roger Garret will direct the Symphonic Winds in their performance of Holst’s arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Fugue ala Gigue, Chiafferelli’s arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Sleeper’s Wake, Ian Polster’s arrangement of Leonard Bernstein’s Four Dances from West Side Story, and Charles A. Wiley’s arrangement of Pierre Leemans’ March of the Belgian Paratroopers.
