Illinois Wesleyan Celebrates International Education Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University’s International Office will sponsor International Education Week Nov. 17-21. Events will take place around campus throughout the week including events such as Japanese Culture in a Hurry and The Global Quiz (see full list of events below).

International Education Week is a joint venture with the United States Department of State and the United States Department of Educations. It promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.

International Education Week Schedule of Events

Monday, Nov. 17: World Piece –– Japanese Culture in a Hurry from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Kemp Hall (1207 N Main St., Bloomington). Actives will include sushi making, traditional dress, learning Japanese words and discovering study abroad opportunities in Japan.

Tuesday, Nov. 18: The Global Quiz will take place at all campus-dining locations around lunchtime including Bertholf Commons, The DugOut and the Faculty Lounge in Memorial Center (104 E. University Ave., Bloomington).

On display throughout the week will be two exhibits: In The Ames Library (1 Ames Plaza, Bloomington.) will be international artifacts from IWU faculty and staff, and in the Memorial Center will be “The World as a Village of 100 People.”

Also throughout the week, students will set up tables at various locations for the Traveling Study Abroad Fair. Locations will include Buck Library (210 E. University Ave., Bloomington), Center for Liberal Arts (205 Beecher St., Bloomington), Center for Natural Science (201 E. Beecher St., Bloomington), Presser Hall (1210 N. Park Street in Bloomington) and the Memorial Center with information about studying abroad.
