Titan Film Series Presents Dan in Real Life

January 11, 2008

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The next installment in the Titan Film Series, sponsored by the Illinois Wesleyan University Office of Student Activities, will be Dan In Real Life.  The film will be shown on Friday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington).

The event is free and open to the public.

Advice columnist Dan Burns (Steve Carell) is the widowed single parent of three daughters.  He finds himself attracted to a woman, Marie (Juliette Binoche), whom he meets in a bookstore, but learns at a quirky family reunion that the woman is his brother’s girlfriend. Dan realizes that as he has become infatuated with Marie, he has neglected his family and his children.

Written by Peter Hedges, who also authored the screenplays for Pieces of April and About a Boy, Dan in Real Life has been called “a comedy of faith” by Entertainment Weekly and a “highly agreeable charmer” by the Chicago Tribune.

Dan in Real Life is rated PG-13. For more information, visit the Office of Student Activities Web site at http://www.iwu.edu/activities or call (309) 556-3850.
