BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A chapel service in solidarity with the Northern Illinois University community will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20 in Evelyn Chapel, replacing the originally scheduled Founders' Day service.
In addition, a candlelight service at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Evelyn Chapel will honor those affected by the Feb. 14 tragedy at NIU. The candlelight service will include an open forum for anyone to share his or her feelings and experiences connected to the shooting.
Northern Illinois University graduate Steven Kazmierczak, 27, opened fire in a classroom on the DeKalb campus last Thursday, fatally shooting five students and then himself.
"Our hopes and prayers are with our friends at NIU at this difficult time," Illinois Wesleyan President Richard F. Wilson said in a letter to the IWU community after the shootings.
