Alumnus Directs Marketing, Communications at Illinois State University
BLOOMINGTON, Ill – Illinois Wesleyan graduate Brian Beam has been named executive
director of University Marketing and Communications at Illinois State University.
Beam began on May 1 and oversees 35 staff members in licensing, design, publications,
printing and photography.
Beam earned his bachelor’s degree in art and business administration at Illinois Wesleyan
University in 1991, and a master’s degree from Illinois State University in 1994 in
the field of art and design.
Beam formerly served as vice president of Business Builders, a Bloomington-based marketing
company, which he built with founder Richard L. Eikenberg. Beam is president of the
American Marketing Association for Central Illinois and a member of the Economic Development
Council’s New Leadership Board.
His early work in the design field included serving as a wearables designer and screen
printer for Flatlander Industries of Bloomington, where he eventually became the art
director/director of marketing for the 23-person firm.
Beam resides in Bloomington with his wife, Aimee, and two daughters.
