Lab Theatre to Present Two Student-Directed Plays
Students stage a scene in P.D.Q. Bach's Oedipus Tex.
May 23, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Theatre Arts will present
two student-directed productions, Oedipus Tex directed by Nicky Schuenke (class of ’07) and Red Black and Ignorant, directed by Sara Gorsky (class of ’07). The shows will be presented together beginning
at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23 through Friday, May 25 in the E. Melba Johnson Kirkpatrick
Laboratory Theatre (304 E. Graham St., Bloomington).
Oedipus Tex, written by P.D.Q. Bach, is a retelling of the ancient Greek tragedy of Oedipus as
a wild, upbeat comedic operetta set in modern Texas. The darker-themed Red Black and Ignorant by Edward Bond explores the path a man’s life might have taken had he survived a
bombing that occurred prior to his birth.
Available through the McPherson Theatre box office, tickets are $2 for general admission
and $1 for students. For more information, contact the box office at (309) 556-3232.
