New Appointments in IWU’s Financial Aid Office
August 20, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Two members of the Illinois Wesleyan Financial Aid Office have
been appointed new roles. Lynn Nichelson, director of financial aid at Illinois Wesleyan
University, was appointed assistant dean of enrollment management. Scott Seibring,
director of new student financial aid and class of 1985 graduate, was appointed director
of financial aid.
“Lynn, who has been Illinois Wesleyan’s first and only director of financial aid,
plans to retire from the University in July of 2009,” said Bob Murray, dean of enrollment
management. “He has faithfully and capably served in this capacity since 1963 and
will continue his work regarding financial aid policy, research and government regulations
issues for the university.
“Following Lynn’s retirement, Scott, who is equally as knowledgeable of financial
aid issues and who has served the University for the past 22 years, is the ideal person
to take on his leadership role. We are fortunate to be able to smoothly make this
transition of leadership in an office affecting many of the students at Illinois Wesleyan.”
Seibring has worked in the Admission Office for nine years and in the Financial Aid
Office for the past 13 years. As director, he is now responsible for the financial
aid staff, daily operations of the office and packaging of financial aid.
Nichelson, who has a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University, was
the 2002 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the College Board Midwestern
Regional Assembly and has served on the U.S. Department of Education’s Negotiated
Rulemaking Committee on Loan Issues. He is also the recipient of IWU’s 2007 Max L.
Starkey Service Award. The Starkey Award is presented to a member of the administrative,
technical, support, security or physical plant staff nominated by his or her peers
for extraordinary service to the University.
